Chinese Tea and the World from Wanli Tea Ceremony


Tea originated in China, as early as the 6th century AD tea export history, in the 17th century, tea has leapt to the Qing Dynasty's largest export commodities. The Chinese-Russian Wanli tea ceremony, which flourished from the 17th century to the early 20th century, is another international commercial road to communicate Eurasia after the Silk Road.


Wanli tea ceremony starts from Wuyishan, Fujian Province, passes through Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Henan, Shanxi, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, from Yilin (now Erlianhaote) into the territory of present Mongolia, along the Altai military platform, across the desert Gobi, through Coulomb (now Ulaanbaatar) to the Sino-Russian border port of trade Chaktu, the whole journey is about 4760 kilometers, including 1480 kilometers by water ,3280 kilometers by land. Tea ceremony continued to extend in Russia, from Chaktu through Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Tiuming, Moscow, St. Petersburg and more than a dozen cities, but also into Central Asia and other countries in Europe, so that the tea road extended to more than 13000 kilometers, become a veritable "Wanli Tea Road ". This tea road, which runs through China and the West, has profoundly affected commerce and culture, industry and architecture, lifestyles and national religions throughout the route.
